An oil boiler service includes cleaning, inspecting, and testing key components to ensure efficiency and safety.
What you can expect from us
When you book an oil boiler service with Mumford Heating Services, a fully qualified engineer will visit your property on-time and well presented.
Should you wish to see it, our engineers are happy to provide you with their identification card before entering your home.
Our engineers always take steps to ensure that your home is left clean and tidy, so we will always use dust sheets and clean the work area following your boiler service.
Depending on the type of boiler you have, a typical boiler service usually takes between 1-2 hours to complete and includes the following checks:

Boiler Cleaning
-
Vacuuming the combustion chamber, cleaning/replacing the filter, and clearing the condensate trap.

-
Inspection: Checking the tank, supply lines, burner components, fire valves, and looking for corrosion, leaks, or air.

Boiler Servicing
-
Replacing the burner nozzle, fine-tuning combustion, inspecting flue terminals, and ensuring a secure flue fitting. Oil boiler servicing is usually more time-consuming and expensive than gas boiler servicing.

Boiler Testing
-
Fire valve, system pressure, oil supply pipe, gas pressure/flow, flue gases, and carbon monoxide.

How Much Does It Cost to Install an Oil Boiler?
The cost of an oil boiler itself typically ranges from £1,000 to £5,000, depending on factors such as brand, type, size, and your heating and hot water requirements. For installation, you can expect to pay between £1,000 and £3,000. If you're replacing an existing oil boiler, the installation will generally be more affordable. However, if you're switching from a different heating system, additional work - such as installing a fuel tank - can increase the cost. The benefit is that oil heating is often cheaper than LPG or electric, helping to reduce your monthly energy bills.
Are Oil Boilers Being Banned?
In short - no. The confusion comes from the fact that, starting in 2025, all new-build homes will be required to have low-carbon heating solutions, meaning gas and oil boilers won’t be installed in newly constructed properties. However, this rule does not apply to existing homes. If you purchase and install an oil boiler, you’ll be able to use it for its full lifespan without any restrictions.
